BACKGROUND
Background
The Guilford County Board of Commissioners adopted legislation to develop the Bicentennial Greenway in 1987, a 14.5 mile thoroughfare spanning four (4) county districts. The greenway serves as a transportation and recreational resource for residents and visitors, further enhancing Guilford County's appeal as a residential and professional destination.
Approximately seven (7) miles of the greenway is located between the Piedmont Environment Center and Highway 68 in the city of High Point. A portion of this section, located between Regency Drive and Piedmont Parkway, is in need of repair to: remove the existing wood walkway; install a 48" culvert pipe and stone for trench stabilization and pipe bedding; and install a new asphalt path. Given its multi-jurisdictional nature, the County would like to enter into an interlocal agreement with High Point to cover half the total amount of repair costs, in an amount not to exceed $32,500. The city of High Point will be responsible for managing all aspects of the repairs and for administration of the construction contract.
