BACKGROUND
Background
Hayden-Harman Foundation has offered to support the Sheriff's Office Re-entry Program; the foundation has approved a donation of $24,000 to the Guilford County Sheriff's Office (GCSO) Reentry program to be used for the benefit of the participants in order to provide for temporary housing in hotels for up to three weeks and other basic needs, such as toiletry kits, bus passes, food, and clothing. These funds would only be used for those, who receive services through the GCSO Re-entry Program.
Guilford County's reentry program seeks to assist individuals who have been to jail, as well as their families, create a successful transition from incarceration back into society. The program assisted approximately 450 individuals over the last twelve (12) months.
Per Section 10-E of the Budget Ordinance, the County Manager is authorized to accept donations up to $75,000. This action appropriates the funds via a budget amendment.
