BACKGROUND
Background
On October 14, 2025, the Board of Education approved a guaranteed maximum price contract and associated project ordinance for Allen Jay Elementary. Through a competitive bidding process, Guilford County School awarded a construction contract to Vannoy-McFarland in the amount of $55,250,064. Allen Jay Elementary will be a rebuild project with a total square footage of 113,163.
The Joint Capital/Facilities Committee reviewed the project adjustment at the October 29, 2025 meeting. Guilford County School was able to achieve a $6,504,366 reduction to the programmed budget, which was estimated at $77,250,000. The achieved savings are being re prioritized to support system wide capital renovation. The revised total project ordinance to complete the project is $70,745,634.
