BACKGROUND
Background
Funds will be used to purchase food for the Guilford County Cooperative Extension received a donation from Blue Cross Blue Shield to support the 2025 Annual Farm Fresh Holiday Food Distribution, an initiative that connects local farmers with community partners to provide fresh, nutritious food to residents with limited access during the holiday season. Through partnerships with food pantries, faith-based organizations, and local farms, the project distributed over 900 food boxes containing fresh produce, meat, eggs, and holiday treats to families and seniors across Summerfield, Greensboro, and High Point. By purchasing products from local farmers and businesses, the project not only addressed food insecurity but also supported the local agricultural economy. This effort reflects Guilford County’s ongoing commitment to strengthening community partnerships and promoting the social, environmental, and economic well-being of its residents. This is the first time Guilford County Cooperative Extension has received a donation for this effort, while the project has been on going since 2023.
