BACKGROUND
Background
The statutory roles of Guilford County Tax Collector (N.C.G.S. 105-349) and Tax Assessor (N.C.G.S. 105-294) are appointed by the Board of Commissioners. In Guilford County, they are combined within the duties of the Tax Director. Tax Director Ben Chavis' current four-year term ends June 30, 2025. As result of approved merit compensation increases the current annual salary is $185,657.50. The reappointment incorporates this and extends the agreement for another four-year term ending June 30, 2029.

Requested Action
Reappoint Ben Chavis to the position of Guilford County Tax Director (Tax Collector and Tax Assessor) and approve renewal of the existing employment agreement, in substantial form, for an additional term of four (4) years, at a current annual salary of $185,657.50, to be effective July 1, 2025 through June 30, 2029.
