BACKGROUND

Background

On March 17, 2022, the Forsyth County Board of Commissioners adopted a resolution authorizing the limited open display and discharge of firearms at Triad Park’s Carolina Field of Honor, with the concurrence of Guilford County. This permission originally applied to Veterans Day and Vietnam Veterans Memorial Day.

The revised resolution updates the approved dates for these ceremonial activities. Vietnam Veterans Memorial Day (March 29) has been removed and replaced with Memorial Day (observed annually on the last Monday of May). Veterans Day (November 11) remains an approved date.
