BACKGROUND
Background
The FY 2022-23 adopted budget included Home and Community Care Block Grant (HCCBG) funding for aging adult in-home aide, transportation, and other services for seniors such as adult day care, group enrichment, community nutrition and home delivered meals, senior center operations, and housing assistance. It is estimated that more than 10,500 seniors will be benefit from these block grant-funded services.
The service providers under this agreement are the Adult Center for Enrichment, Inc. d/b/a Well-Spring Solutions, Emmanuel Senior Enrichment Centers, Community Housing Solutions, Guilford County Social Services, Guilford County Transportation, Piedmont Triad Regional Council, and Senior Resources of Guilford.
Due to continued effects from the Coronavirus pandemic as well as additional identified needs within the County, there is a need to shift funding within the service providers of the block grant based on actual and anticipated use. Services that received additional funding include Well-Spring’s Group Respite program; Senior Resources’ meals program and senior center operations; and County in-home aide level two personal care, adult day health programs, and adult day care. Services with decreased funding include County in-home aide level one home management, in-home aide level three personal care, Senior Resources' congregate nutrition and info counseling programs, and Piedmont Triad Regional Council housing and home improvement program.
Total updated Block Grant Funding for FY 2022-23 is $3,103,620 plus $122,848 in Department of Agriculture NSIP funding for a combined total of $3,226,468, a decrease of $1,101 from the original FY 2022-23 funding amount. The required local match is now $344,847, an increase of $1.
