BACKGROUND
Background
Voluntary Agricultural Districts (VAD) and Enhanced Voluntary Agricultural Districts (EVAD) were developed by the NC Department of Agriculture to encourage the preservation and protection of farmland from non-farm development.
During its July 20, 2015 meeting the Guilford County Agricultural Advisory Board approved the following applications:
1. VAD Application #2015-08, being 68.43 acres and comprised of 2 Tax Parcels (#0167893 @46.18 acres, #0165341 @22.25 acres), all owned by H. Stafford Gray of Oak Ridge, NC.
2. Enhanced Voluntary Agricultural District (EVAD) Application #2015-07, being 72.53 acres and comprised of 2 Tax Parcels (#0150612 @49.45 acres, #0150162 @ 23.08 acres), all owned by Imogene Fields, Emily G. Fields, Amy Fields Rumley and Charles T. Fields of Stokesdale, NC.
3. EVAD Application #2015-09 (previously approved VAD Application # 2008-04; original # 06-03), being 135.24 acres and comprised of 1 Tax Parcel (#0150610 @ 135.24 acres), all owned by B. Rush Hardin of Stokesdale, NC.
4. EVAD Application #2015-10 (previously approved VAD Application # 2009-08; original # 03-09), being 74.82 acres and comprised of 1 Tax Parcel (#0110300 @ 74.82 acres), all owned by Jeffrey Allen Isley of Liberty, NC.
To date, approval of these applications bring the total number of VAD and EVAD parcels to 344 totaling, 14,882.96 acres enrolled. Of these totals, 320 parcels comprising 13,860.37 acres are enrolled in VAD, and 24 parcels comprising 1022.59 acres are enrolled in the EVAD.
