RESOLUTION
Resolution

WHEREAS, the United Way has a longstanding tradition of strengthening communities throughout Guilford County, beginning with the establishment of the Greensboro Community Chest and the High Point Community Chest in the 1920's and 1930's, bringing together citizens, businesses, and nonprofit organizations to address community needs through collective giving and service; and
WHEREAS, the Guilford County Board of Commissioners has a proud history of supporting the United Way and its community partnerships, with appropriations dating back to 1922, appointing of board members in 1977, and, on November 14, 1985, recognizing the County's Social Services Director for leadership of a successful United Way campaign while expressing appreciation to County department directors for their contributions; and
WHEREAS, today, United Way of Greater Greensboro and United Way of Greater High Point continue this legacy by supporting nonprofit agencies and community initiatives that address poverty, promote financial stability, strengthen families, and provide essential resources to Guilford County residents; and
WHEREAS, Guilford County and City employees demonstrate their commitment to public service each day, and participation in the annual United Way campaign provides another meaningful opportunity to serve their neighbors by supporting nonprofit organizations that can intervene early, address emerging needs, and help individuals and families achieve stability before more intensive County services become necessary; and
WHEREAS, the 2026-2027 Guilford County City-County Employee United Way Campaign has established a fundraising goal of $90,000, encouraging employees to participate through voluntary contributions and fundraising activities as part of the United Way's broader community fundraisi...
