BACKGROUND
Background
On September 4, 2026, a severe storm caused significant damage to Hagan Stone Park, resulting in the closure of the facility. Staff will present an assessment of the storm-related damage and outline a proposed plan to stabilize the site and restore park operations.
Initial recovery efforts will focus on removing fallen trees and debris, completing necessary infrastructure repairs, and conducting a tree canopy assessment to identify potential safety hazards. These activities will help establish the conditions necessary for a safe reopening of the park.
Staff is requesting an initial appropriation of $750,000 to support site stabilization and recovery efforts. A portion of these expenses will be covered by insurance proceeds once final work is complete. Additional assessments will help inform any remaining restoration needs and the anticipated timeline for reopening.
