BACKGROUND

Background

In previous work sessions, the Board asked staff to further investigate establishing a unique Department of Social Services (DSS) team that is designed specifically for the FJC to meet the complex challenges of vulnerable families living in Guilford County. Together, the FJC/DSS departments have requested $1,772,220 through 2026 to hire eight (8) staff members in the areas of Child Protective Services and Adult Protective services for Greensboro and High Point.

Requested Action

Approve the addition of eight (8) positions for a dedicated FJS/DSS Protective Services Team to be funded from ARPA funding.
