BACKGROUND
Background
The Guilford County HHS-DSS Transportation & Mobility Services has prepared the 5310 - Enhanced Mobility for Seniors and Individuals with Disabilities to be submitted to the North Carolina Department of Transportation / Integrated Mobility Department (NCDOT/IMD) in October 2026. The total amount of the 5310 grant request for FY 2027-28 is $200,000, with 50% or $100,000 in Federal funding and 50% or $100,000 in County match funding, which will be used for departmental salaries and vehicle maintenance expenses. Staff projects that these funds will support 5,174 trips in FY 2027-28. The FY 2026-27 grant was in the total amount of $250,000 with $125,000 in Federal funds and $125,000 in County match.
A public hearing is required to assess the value and need for a community transportation system and assistance to the elderly and disabled citizens of Guilford County. Attached is a summary of the grant request and authorizing resolution.
