BACKGROUND
Background
The attached agreements provide funding for library services within Guilford County. The County does not provide library services directly, so funds are distributed to the cities of Greensboro (the state-recognized county library system for Guilford County) and High Point (a state-recognized municipal library) to provide these services. Support is also provided to the community libraries of Gibsonville and Jamestown.
The agreements are effective July 1, 2021 and are subject to final approval and any non-material revisions made by the County Attorney and County Manager. The agreements shall continue for a term of five (5) years with annual review, unless terminated pursuant to the terms therein. The County will provide FY 2021-22 funding to each of the municipalities totaling $2,113,485. The details of the allocation are as follows:
Greensboro: $1,468,630
High Point: $533,855
Gibsonville: $55,500
Jamestown: $55,500
These funds are for the 2021-2022 Fiscal Year and commensurate funding has been approved in the adopted budget. The High Point City Council is scheduled to approve its agreement on July 19, the Greensboro City Council is scheduled to approve on July 20, the Jamestown Town Council is scheduled to approve on July 20, and the Gibsonville Board of Aldermen are scheduled to approve on July 19.
