BACKGROUND

Background

Guilford County has allowed the North Carolina Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, on behalf of the NC Forest Service, to use 427 net square feet of office space at 3309 Burlington Road, Greensboro, NC, commonly referred to as the Agricultural Extension Center.

 

The NC Forest Service previously retained a lease at the same location from 2022-2025 at the compensation rate of $3,360.00 annually. Due to rising costs the county has negotiated an amended compensation rate of $3,736.25. Additionally the annualized rate will increase year over year at the following schedule of value:

 

Year 1 ( May 1, 2025 - April 30th 2026) $3,736.25 annually- 311.35 monthly

Year 2 ( May 1, 2026 - April 30th 2027) $4,056.50 annually- 338.05 monthly

Year 3 (May 1, 2027 - April 30th 2028) $4,270.00 annually- 355.83 monthly

 

The NC Forest Service would like to enter into a three (3) year lease renewal beginning May 1, 2025 and expiring April 30, 2028 at the compensation rate of $3,736.25 annually. Staff recommends that the Board approve this agreement as it is beneficial to the citizens and the County.

Requested Action

Approve, in substantial form, a three (3) year lease agreement for rental of office space at 3309 Burlington Rd, Greensboro, NC, to the North Carolina Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services at the compensation rate of $3,736.25 annually, and authorize staff to take all reasonable actions to finalize and execute said lease.
