BACKGROUND

Background

Voluntary Agricultural Districts (VAD) and Enhanced Voluntary Agricultural Districts (EVAD) were developed by the NC Department of Agriculture to encourage the preservation and protection of farmland from non-farm development.

 

During its January 11, 2016 meeting the Guilford County Agricultural Advisory Board approved the following applications:

 

          1. VAD Application # 2016-01, being 95.54 acres and comprised of 1 tax parcel (#0222304 @ 95.54 acres), all owned by Janice F. Buckner of Gibsonville, NC.

          2. VAD Application # 2016-02, being 91.83 acres and comprised of 1 tax parcel (#0107511 @ 91.83 acres), all owned by James A. Fryar, III of High Point,NC.

 

During its February 15, 2016 meeting the Guilford County Agricultural Advisory Board approved the following applications:

 

          3. VAD Application # 2016-03, being 76.71 acres and comprised of 1 tax parcel (#0167161 @ 76.71 acres), all owned by Billy Ray Moore of Belews Creek, NC.

          4. EVAD Application # 2016-04, being 97.51 acres and comprised of 2 tax parcels (#0150160 @ 84.1 acres, #0150185 @ 13.41 acres) all owned by Billy Ray Moore of Belews Creek, NC.

 

To date, approval of these applications bring the total number of VAD and EVAD parcels to 355, totaling 15,600.71 acres enrolled. Of these totals, 327 parcels comprising 14,431.48 acres are enrolled in VAD, and 28 parcels comprising 1169.23 acres are enrolled in EVAD.
