BACKGROUND

Background

The Town of Gibsonville is requesting the section in the Countywide Master Plan that refers to their upgrades, be added to pages 27 and 28.  It currently reads as:

Develop fields at Moricle Park                                          In progress

Develop Recreation Center                                          In progress

Acquire additional Park land                                          Planning stage

The Town of Gibsonville is now requesting the following language added to the Master Plan:

Due to increased numbers of participants, the Town of Gibsonville will need to acquire additional land in order to accommodate current and future growth.

The acquired property will be used to construct a large multi-purpose field, lights, parking and restrooms.  Additional uses will be determined based on future trends, as well as, public input.  If possible, property adjacent to The William F. Moricle Recreational Complex or Edward G. Murrell Park should be a top priority.  Other properties that may be considered are part of the Town's Land Development Plan.
