BACKGROUND
Background
The Guilford County Sheriff's Office is in receipt of the 2015 Governor's Highway Safety Program Grant in the amount of $422,670. The DWI Taskforce Program grant funds are used for sustainment of the existing DWI Taskforce Program. This includes providing salaries and benefits for all supporting taskforce officers, three (3) Guilford County Sheriff’s Deputy's and two (2) City of High Point Police Officers; Air Card Services; Alcohol Blood Testing Kits; Alcosensor equipment; as well as, in-state and out-of-state training/travel costs for officers. This is the fourth year of funding for this program and a 50% LOCAL MATCH OF $211,335 IS REQUIRED and this match is already included in the adopted FY 2016 Law Enforcement budget. The total grant award is $422,670 with the federal portion equaling $211,335 and the county match totaling $211,335.
A portion of the grant revenue was already included in the budget, as was the county match. As a result the Board of Commissioners only needs to appropriate an additional $93,459 to Law Enforcement and $93,459 of Federal/State Revenues.
