BACKGROUND
background
In November 2017, Guilford County, on behalf of Emergency Services and Division of Public Health, entered into an agreement with the University of North Carolina at Greensboro (UNCG) to provide a number of services under the moniker of GCSTOP (Guilford County Solutions to the Opioid Problem). The program has flourished and preliminarily reduced deaths from opioids by greater than 50% in its first year. The County has received additional funding through the NC General Assembly ($50,000), as well as a NC Department of Health & Human Services grant ($100,000), to expand and sustain the program. The contract is being amended to allocate a portion of these dollars to UNCG, as well as the County, to expend dollars on goods and services to support GCSTOP. As part of the addendum, sub-recipient language is being added, as well as shifting primary program oversight from The Center for Housing and Community Studies to the School of Social Work.
