BACKGROUND
Background
Guilford County's celebration of National County Government Month in April 2016 featured the responsibilities of County government and the role it plays in ensuring public safety. This year's theme was "Safe and Secure Counties" and several events, ranging from employee Lunch N' Learns to Community Panel Discussions, were conducted to highlight effective County programs and raise public awareness of the various services provided to Guilford County citizens.
The topic of public safety was extended to this year's Kids Art Contest, with the theme "What Safety Means to Me". Entries from children and grandchildren of Guilford County Government employees, ranging from the ages of 5-18, were submitted for review by departmental directors. The top winners from each age category will be recognized, and all artwork is on display in the lobby of the Commissioners' Chamber.
