BACKGROUND
background
The Emergency Services Department has been in contract for Emergency Management Services (EMS) billing services since 2000. This outsourcing has resulted in increased collections of fees charged for ambulance services and compliance with ever changing regulations related to third party insurance, Medicare and Medicaid. The latest major change was implementation of ICD10 coding for claims.
EMS Management and Consultants, Inc. has been through a change of leadership, and after careful and thoughtful consideration, Guilford County has re-negotiated the terms of the agreement to reduce the overall percentage of collections paid for services rendered, as well as implementing penalty and bonus incentives. We have also established extensive quality assurance measures and performance measures in the proposed contract. Additionally, the terms of the agreement are for one (1) year, with an option for annual renewals.
