PROCLAMATION

Proclamation

WHEREAS, Parks & Recreation programs are in integral part of communities throughout this country, including Guilford County; and

WHEREAS, Guilford County parks has transitioned to Guilford County Parks & Recreation, reflecting an active park system committed to supporting the recreational, wellness and community needs of Guilford County and the surrounding region; and

WHEREAS, Guilford County Parks & Recreation provide a robust system of seven (7) regional parks, twelve (12) passive park preserves, over sixty (60) miles of trails and greenways, and over 4,500 acres of land that see over one (1) million visitors to our parks yearly; and

WHEREAS, Guilford County Parks & Recreation enhance the County's quality of life by promoting health lifestyles, preserving natural resources, expanding access to outdoor recreation, and providing opportunities for residents and visitors to connect with nature and one another; and

WHEREAS, Guilford County Parks & Recreation will host a variety of special recreational events throughout the month of July to celebrate Parks & Recreation Month and engage residents and visitors across the County; and

WHEREAS, Guilford County recognizes and appreciates the dedicated Parks & Recreation staff, volunteers, community partners and the Parks & Recreation Commission, whose leadership, service and continued support help maintain parks, preserve natural resources and expand recreational opportunities throughout the County; and

WHEREAS, the Guilford County Board of Commissioners recognizes the significant contributions Parks & Recreation services provide in building a stronger, healthier and more connected community; and
