BACKGROUND
Background
The Board of Commissioners (BOC) approved the FY24 NC Department of Public Safety (NCDPS) One Step Further Grant on the December 12, 2023 agenda. Guilford County is serving as a funding facilitator between NCDPS and One Step Further-Traffic Diversion Program in the Guilford County area during FY24. The Guilford Teen Traffic Diversion Pilot Program (TTD) provides the opportunity for 16-18 year olds charged with traffic offenses to be diverted from adult court while addressing potential causes for the offense and increasing public safety. The required sanction for program completion and dismissal of charges is satisfactory completion of the Alive at 25 4-hour class. This fiscal year, 44 of an estimated 100 youth have been served so far. The attached funding plan revises the local in-kind funds and does not affect the grant funds being facilitated through Guilford County.
Total increase = $194
Decrease of -$1,200 Local In-Kind funds
Increase of $1,394 Local In-Kind funds
Reasons on decrease: Program Director’s & volunteer services work was reduced due to lower client referrals from initial anticipated numbers and need for less office supplies.
Reasons on increases: Postage expenses, distribution of post cards at courthouse, background screenings and Liability premium increases.
