PROCLAMATION
Proclamation
WHEREAS, internal auditing is an independent, objective assurance and consulting activity designed to add value and improve organizational operations; and
WHEREAS, internal auditors help Guilford County accomplish its goals by bringing a systematic, disciplined approach to evaluating and improving the effectiveness of risk management, internal controls, governance, and operational processes; and
WHEREAS, the work of internal auditors promotes transparency, accountability, efficiency, and stewardship of public resources, helping to ensure taxpayer dollars are managed responsibly and in accordance with applicable laws, policies, and best practices; and
WHEREAS, internal auditors serve an important role in identifying opportunities for continuous improvement, strengthening public trust, and supporting sound decision-making across County government; and
WHEREAS, Guilford County recognizes the dedicated professionals who serve in internal audit functions and their commitment to integrity, objectivity, and excellence in public service; and
WHEREAS, observing Internal Audit Awareness Month provides an opportunity to increase understanding of the value of internal auditing and the positive impact it has on effective and ethical government operations;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Guilford County Board of Commissioners hereby proclaims the month of May 2026 as Internal Audit Awareness Month in Guilford County, and encourages all residents, employees, and community partners to recognize the important contributions of internal audit professionals in promoting accountability, efficiency, and good governance.
