BACKGROUND
background
The Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) focuses on students’ needs from both health and educational perspectives and provides defined roles and responsibilities for implementing coordinated School Health Programs based on local needs and resources between Guilford County Department of Health & Human Services - Division of Public Health (GCDHHS - PH) and the Guilford County Schools (GCS). Each local Education Agency will make available a registered nurse for assessment, care planning, and ongoing evaluation of students with special health care service needs in a school setting. According to the NC Division of Public Health Child Health Agreement Addenda, the local health department will maintain a written agreement with the local school districts within its service area.
GCDHHS-PH employs 64 School Nurses, 2 School Health Aides, and 1 Dental Hygienist to provide health services in 119 Guilford County Schools. These nurses, health aides, and hygienist are supported by 6 School Nurse Supervisors, 1 Nursing Services Manager, and 2 Administrative Assistants, employed by GCDHHS-PH.
GCS employs 4 School Nurses to provide health services in 4 Public Separate Schools.
