PROCLAMATION
Proclamation
WHEREAS, on Veterans Day, we honor the generations of women and men who have served and sacrificed for the United States of America. For close to 250 years, our veterans have defended the values that make us strong so that our nation could stand as a citadel of liberty, a beacon of freedom, and a wellspring of possibilities; and
WHEREAS, during this time we thoughtfully consider all our veterans, who put their lives on the line to protect our democracy, values, and freedom around the world. We honor our wounded warriors, so many of whom are bound by a common sense of duty, courage, and optimism, and we remember those who are still missing in action or prisoners of war; and
WHEREAS, our military families, caregivers, and survivors also answer the call to serve. Our veterans and their families give so much, and we owe them a debt we can never fully repay; and
WHEREAS, with honor and distinction, American patriots have stepped forward to serve our country and defend our way of life. Generations of servicemen and women have taken up arms to win our independence, preserve our Union, and secure our freedoms; and
WHEREAS, from the Minutemen to our Post-9/11 Generation, these heroes have put their lives on the line so that we might live in a world that is safer, freer, and more just, and we owe them a profound debt of gratitude. On Veterans Day, we salute the Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, Marines, and Coast Guardsmen who have rendered the highest service any American can offer, and we rededicate ourselves to fulfilling our commitment to all who serve; and
