BACKGROUND
Background
On March 31, 2016 Guilford County Management received a letter of request from the North Carolina Department of Transportation for support in installation of a traffic signal at the intersection of US 70 (East Wendover Avenue) and Willowlake Road.

RESOLUTION
Resolution
RESOLUTION IN SUPPORT OF A SIGNAL AT THE INTERSECTION OF US 70 AND WILLOWLAKE ROAD (SR 2828) IN GUILFORD COUNTY
WHEREAS, the Guilford County Board of Commissioners are being requested to support installation of a traffic signal at the intersection of US 70 (East Wendover Avenue) and Willowlake Road (SR 2828), which will be funded by the use of Department of Transportation Contingency Funds sponsored by Senator Trudy Wade and Representative Jon Hardister; and
WHEREAS, the attached letter (request) received from the North Carolina Department of Transportation, Division of Highways, has been filed with the Guilford County Board of Commissioners stating the existing intersection does meet the warrants for a traffic signal; and
WHEREAS, the North Carolina Department of Transportation further states that the installation of this signal is critical for the safety and mobility of the motorist that travel this intersection; and
WHEREAS, the County Planning Staff has reviewed the request for the installation of this traffic signal that will enhance the safety of the traveling public through this intersection, and there would be no negative impacts from the installation at the intersection of US 70 and Willowlake Road.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Guilford County Board of Commissioners hereby acknowledges and supports the installation of this traffic signal with the use of the North Carolina Department of Transportation Contingency Funds.
