BACKGROUND
Background
During Board of Commissioner Work Sessions on September 15, 2022 and October 6, 2022, the Guilford County Board of Commissioners approved funding to enter into agreements with municipalities and nonprofit organizations for the projects outlined below:
Town of Sedalia - $500,000
This agreement will support the Town of Sedalia in constructing its first public park and walking trail and maximizing accessibility to this park from homes of existing residents via construction of sidewalks.
Town of Jamestown Sidewalk Improvement - $2,294,795
This project will complete gaps in the pedestrian network in Jamestown to connect critical public locations, including public schools, libraries and parks.
Town of Jamestown Park Improvement - $315,205
This project will improve Jamestown Park with the addition of two shelters, a dog park, relocating the sand volleyball area, developing a natural play area and trail, and renovating the basketball court and sidewalks.
Town of Jamestown Storm Water - $210,000
The Town of Jamestown will replace a crucial storm water infrastructure feature at Jamestown Park Golf Course. The storm water project will prevent failure of a small dam which is adjacent to a major water supply lake.
United Arts Council of Greater Greensboro - $2,500,000
This agreement will support an arts sector framework that includes providing arts organizations/artists with tools to become financially stronger, working with Guilford County Schools to pilot a third grade Artist-in-Residence (AIR) program and investing in a robust marketing campaign to create awareness of the creative community in Guilford County.
