BACKGROUND
background
The new interlocal MOU outlines the goals and guiding principles as agreed to by and between Guilford County Board Of Education, Guilford County Department of Health and Human Services - Division of Public Health (GC DHHS - DPH), and Cone Health in order to foster an efficient and cohesive program that will build a positive relationship between the schools, the Public Health Department, Cone Health, and the staff, parents, and students in the Guilford County Public School System. A School Health Program is a current component of the public school system of Guilford County, North Carolina, to promote a healthy and safe environment on the campuses of the Guilford County Public School System. The MOU outlines the roles and responsibilities of parties in providing collaborative health services in the Guilford County Schools, with various components being the responsibility of agreed-upon parties. Cone Health will administer the Telehealth Program and GC DHHS - DPH will administer the School Health program. As agreed, upon in this MOU, these are independent programs. However, this MOU outlines the practices and protocols allowing the programs to lean on each other while providing coordinated health services for students. The MOU also outlines the permission of sharing health information between the programs as deemed necessary for the well-being of the students, and will begin July 1, 2024, for a period of one year with annual renewal eligibility as agreed upon by all parties.

Approve interlocal Memorandum of Understanding, in substantial form, between Guilford County Board of Education, Guilford County, by and through its Department of Health and Human Services - Division of Public Health and Cone Health focused on coordinated health services in the Guilford County Schools, effective July 1, 2024.
