BACKGROUND
Background
The Guilford County Sheriff's Office has received the 2015 grant from the Governor's Highway Safety Program in the amount of $73,735. The grant is made up of $62,675 in Federal/State Revenue and a, $11,060 county match. The DWI Taskforce Educator Program grant funds are to be used to fund an existing position, the DWI Taskforce Educator, for implementation of a community educational/support program which targets the schools, local businesses, insurance companies, and the courts. Funding will include salary and benefits for one full time grant-funded deputy position, as well as, in-state or out-of-state travel and educational expenses for the officer, and Air Card service.
The FY 2016 Law Enforcement budget already includes some of the grant revenues and expenses, as a result changes to the budget will only be: a $9,776 increase in appropriation to Law Enforcement and a $9,776 increase in Federal/State Revenue.

RESOLUTION
Resolution
WHEREAS, the Guilford County Sheriff's Office (herein called the "Agency") has completed an application contract for traffic safety funding; and that Guilford County Board of Commissioners (herein call the "Governing Body") has thoroughly considered the problem identified and has reviewed the project as described in the contract;
THEREFORE, NOW BE IT RESOLVED BY THE GUILFORD COUNTY IN OPEN MEETING ASSEMBLED IN THE CITY OF GREENSBORO, NORTH CAROLINA, THIS 17TH DAY OF SEPTEMBER, 2015, AS FOLLOWS:
1. That the project referenced above is in the best interest of the Governing Body and the general public; and
2. That Hank Henning is authorized to file, on behalf of the Governing Body, an application contract in the form prescribed by the Governor's Highway Safety Program for federal funding in the amount of $62,675 to be made to the Governing Body to assist in defraying the cost of the project described inn the contract application; and
3. That the Governing Body has formally appropriated the cash contribution of $11,060 as required by the project contract; and
4. That the Project Director designated in the application contract shall furnish or make arrangement for other appropriate persons to furnish such information, data, documents and reports required by the contract, if approved, or as may be requited by the Governor's Highway Safety Program; and
5. That certified copies of this resolution be included as part of the contract referenced above; and
6. That this resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.

Requested Action
Approve receipt of the 2015 Governor's Highway Safety Grant for the DWI Taskforce Educator in the amount of $73,735 and adopt the accompanying Local Governmental Resolution. Increase the FY2016 Law Enforcement budget by $9,776 to appropriate grant funds and increase Federal/State Revenue by $9,776.
