BACKGROUND
Background
Animal Services is requesting the purchase of two (2) climate-controlled transport boxes. These two (2) vehicle bodies will be installed on cab chassis ordered in FY23.
In FY24, Animal Control conducted 1,910 animal transports.
Northwestern Emergency Vehicles is the only supplier of climate-controlled animal transport boxes in the southeastern United States. A sole source bidding exemption is requested, due to the proprietary nature of this specialized equipment being only available from one source serving North Carolina.

Requested Action
Approve the sole source purchase of two (2) animal control vehicle boxes from the exclusive manufacturer Northwestern Emergency Vehicles in an amount not to exceed $103,350; as authorized by G.S. 143-129 (e) (6) which provides that formal bidding requirements do not apply when a needed product is available from only one source or supply.
