BACKGROUND
Background
The City of Greensboro Metropolitan Planning Organization has prepared the 5310 Enhanced Mobility of Seniors & Individuals with Disabilities Program application budgets for FY24 to be submitted to the Federal Transit Authority (FTA) Operating Grant Program. The grant application was submitted by the County on April 21, 2024 to the City of Greensboro. The grant provides operating assistance related to the operation of the County's public transit system. This year’s grant application includes funding for 1,800 additional trips. Grant term July 01, 2023 - June 30, 2024. FTA is always one year behind, therefore the invoice for the 1,800 trips will be sent to City of Greensboro in July for trips completed to obtain reimbursement to County. Grant received annually by County at least for last 15 years. Grant application does not require public hearing as not a grant plan according to the City of Greensboro.
Grant amount for FY23 vs. FY24 increased from $40,000 to $50,000 for a net increase of $10,000. Guilford County matches 100% of allocated funds (FY23 County match $40,000 vs FY24 County match $50,000) for total funding of $100,000, which is an increase from FY23 total funding of $80,000 ($20,000 net increase). County staff has identified the additional $10,000 to meet necessary match within current operating budget. Planned use for expenses includes majority for insurance and bonding, with remainder going towards salaries and vehicle maintenance.
