BACKGROUND
Background
Guilford County originally entered into a contract with Weiser Security Services, Inc. effective February 20, 2021 for both armed and unarmed security services at various locations throughout the County. The terms for this contract would be in effect for (1) year, with the option to extend for two (2), one-year renewals and terms and conditions upon mutual written agreement of both parties. The final one-year renewal expired in 2024.
The Security Department competitively solicited for firms to provide armed and unarmed security services at various County locations. RFP Bid Event 20169 was conducted in August through September 2023 and the County received four (4) responses. Weiser Security Services, Inc. was identified as the lowest responsive, responsible bidder.
Weiser was awarded the contract and agreed to a term of one (1) year, with an option for two (2) one-year renewals. No additional services or new positions were included. The total amount of the new contract is $1,349,506.60, an increase of $85,819.60 from the prior year, to allow for a $0.50 hourly rate increase for all armed and unarmed officers, including the Site Manager and Site Supervisors.

NO ADDITIONAL COUNTY FUNDS REQUIRED FOR FISCAL YEAR 2023-24
Funds are included in the FY24 budget for the remaining four months of the fiscal year and funding will be commensurate with the adopted budget for FY25.
