BACKGROUND
Background
In late November 2023, North Carolina Attorney General Josh Stein awarded five (5) North Carolinians from the Triad area with the Dogwood Award. These awards are given annually to citizens working to improve the health, safety and well-being of their fellow North Carolinians. In 2023, only 34 recipients were awarded.
Included in the 2023 awardees were Chancellor Harold Martin of NC A&T State University, whose leadership has made the university a leading HBCU with the largest student enrollment in the nation; and
Guilford County government's Catherine Johnson, whose leadership of the Family Justice Center collaborative has helped ensure a pathway for victims of domestic violence, as well as those experiencing child and elder abuse.
